Yesterday the Green Arrow’s put in a strong performance against a clinical Laken side – featuring the infamous Jean-Jean and Marie – remembered from previous meetings.
Each side fielded eight players – two females in each side – and they all played against each other (maths teachers will know instinctively how many sets were played). We lost 69 – 62 after three hours of intense darts with the score ebbing and flowing. At lunchtime it was evenly poised at 25-25. After lunch Laken’s finishing widened the gap between the two teams. We even brought out the secret weapon ,the coffee machine, and reduced the team to expresso’s – the games seemed to go quicker from then on.
Vlad got the highest score of the day 120. So the Brussels Cup remains at Laken until May at least. The emphasis of the team is the joy of playing – we pride ourselves to lose as we win and win as we lose. The Green Arrows consisted of Jurique, Alek, Jose, Jess, Sjilja, Martinus, Paul and Vlad.
